I never got my kit, what should I do?

Let us know and we will send you a new one during active study periods[CM1] . You can either email us at: or respond to our text reminders (I promise there is a real person who reads your replies!)

How often can I receive a test kit through the study?

You can receive a test kit from us once a year! However, the CDC recommends testing every 3-6 months, so in between test kits please check out, to input your zip code and find local, low-cost and free testing facilities.

Can I remain in the study if I start PrEP?

Of course! Participants who are on PrEP will continue to receive new surveys. Unfortunately, our test kits are not adequate for testing folks on PrEP. If you are on PrEP, you will need to test for HIV with your doctor. However, you will receive your $25 dollar gift card for providing proof of your PrEP prescription (e.g. photo of bottle, medical doc, etc.). It’s the same amount of money, but now you’re on PrEP, awesome!

How do I get on PrEP?

The first step would be talking to a medical provider about PrEP! If you don’t have a provider willing to prescribe PrEP or don’t feel comfortable discussing PrEP with your doctor, please check out this page It will help you find local providers who prescribe PrEP. Can my friend join the study?

We love that you want to refer your friends and family to our study! However, we are no longer accepting new participants. Thank you for thinking of us! Please feel free to direct them to our resources page for information about HIV testing and PrEP/PEP.

My address recently changed, how should I let you know?

Please let us know! Either email us at or reply to any of our texts with your new address. You can also update your address when you fill out our surveys. We want to make sure our information for you is correct and up-to-date. This will ensure you receive your test kits and gift cards in a timely manner.
